DEFORMATION DECOMPOSITION FOR BEAM WITH INITIAL ECCENTRIC PRESTRESS

The statically equilibrated deformation modes for an Euler-Bemoulli beam element with eccentric initial prestress are defined, as well as with the corresponding macro-stiffness. It is found that the decomposed deformation modes for a beam element with initial prestress are distinctively different from those of the beam element with no prestress. The global deformation of structure under given loads can be decomposed as the weighted combination of the elemental strain deformation modes and the specified rigid body modes. In this way, the deformation characteristic of the prestressed beam under load could be further refined, which is helpful to further analyse the structural response under given loads. A simply supported bridge model with built-up Tee-beams is presented for illustration.
