LOAD BEARING PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF BRIDGE STEEL COPING

Bridge coping is attributed to this kind of components which mainly bear combined bending moment and shearing force, and therefore coping design usually only considers the combined action of bending moment and shearing force, which bases on the most disadvantageous combination of permanent action, variable action and accidental action. The 40th steel coping of Beijing South Station Viaduct is analyzed in this article. The finite element software ANSYS is used in the analysis.Firstly, the mechanical behavior of steel coping under the most disadvantageous combination of the three kinds of function is analysed. Then the calculation to the bearing capacity of steel coping is carried on. By comparison, the article obtained the conclusion that the filled concrete can improve steel copings mechanical behavior to a certain extent and the steel copings bearing capacity satisfies the request of design. The analysis results can be used as reference for practical engineering. In the Article some issues which should be pay attention to in the design of bridge steel coping are found.
