PREDICTION OF WRINKLED MEMBRANE STRUCTURE BY THIN-SHELL ELEMENT

This paper introduces the history of numerical studies of wrinkled membrane structure at first. Meanwhile, the development of modeling techniques for the analysis of wrinkled membrane structures are also presented in this paper. The geometrical nonlinear finite element approach is adopted to simulate the wavelength, amplitude and direction of wrinkled membrane structures based on thin-shell element assumption. The accuracy of the results is demonstrated by computing the characteristics of wrinkles in one specific examples compared with corresponding experimental data.And another simulation example of tensioned membrane structure under one working condition is given with the combination of ANSYS&LS-DYNA package to illustrate the application of this method.
