NONLINEAR FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF BEAM-TO-COLUMN END-PLATE CONNECTIONS WITH WEB OPENING IN STEEL STRUCTURES

The thesis analyzed Beam-to-column end-plate standard connections with web opening by Finite Element Program (FE-program) ANSYS. The influence of opening parameter on the stress distribution in connections and ultimate elastic bearing capacity are also researched, and the basic reasons for the movement of plastic hinge are analyzed. The mechanical performance of different opening parameter connections are compared, in addition, the thesis pays more attention to the discussion of the influence of the end-plate thickness, bolt and opening parameter on the ductility performance of connections. The results indicate that beam-to-column end-plate connections with web opening are new-type anti-seismic connections which are deserved to be generalized widely.
