STUDY ON INFLUENCE FACTOR OF PLASTIC LIMIT ANALYSIS BASED ON ELASTIC COMPENSATION FINITE ELEMENT METHOD
Elastic compensation method (ECM) is an effective plastic limit analysis method for engineering structures. This paper presents the parametric study of limit loads for beam and frame structures by Elastic Compensation based Finite Element Method (ECFEM). The influence of some important parameters on the precision of results achieved by ECFEM is examined by comparison of the presented method with analytical solution and the Elasto-Plastic Incremental Method. The failure mode and ultimate load of the beam and frame structures are calculated. Examples show that leading factors affecting the results of ECFEM include element mesh density, tolerant convergence error and regulation factor in limit analysis of structures. They also demonstrate that the ECFEM is simple and efficient compared with the Elasto-Plastic Incremental Method. The recommendation values for the important parameters are also proposed based on the parametric study and numeric analysis.
