Discussion on accuracy of acid-soluble aluminum analysis in steel by spark discharge optical emission spectrometry
The results of acid-soluble aluminum (Als)in steel tested by spark discharge optical emission spectrometry (OES),using either peak integration method spectral (PIMS)or pulse discrimination analysis (PDA),sometimes show deviation with wet chemical analysis results. Moreover, these deviations usually havent much orderliness apparently. In this thesis, the relation between this deviation and the size of AlN precipitate in steel was demonstrated, according to our experiments and theoretical analysis. Its proved that the bigger particle size of AIN precipitate is in steel, the larger deviation of Als analysis result will be.Especially, the deviation of Als analysis results could be overlooked when the size of AlN precipitate is less than 300 nm.Finally,it is proposed that some points should be concerned when spark discharge OES is used to analyze Als in steel.
