A test method on tensile strength for weld seam of UOE pipe
To compare the results of different welding string and welding conditions,sometime it is desirous to measure tensile strength for weld seam as well as HAZ effect area of U-ing,O-ing and Expending (UOE)pipes.As the width of weld seam and HAZ is too narrow to make a standard normal tensile specimen,it is difficult to measure tensile strength with tensile test.Recently a great works have been done with the Instrumented Indentation Testing (IIT)to measure tensile properties of material with a small specimen or on small area of a real object.And there are some different methods to measure tensile properties with IIT equipment.As we know,with different methods or different parameters different results may be obtained.In the paper,a method is introduced which based on direct measured data with IIT technique to deduce tensile strength,and an example to measure tensile strength of weld seam as well as HAZ of UOE pipe with the method is reported.
