Development of new generation high property bridge steel Q420qD
The railroad bridge fabricating of China has reached the advanced international level.Compare with bridge design,the high performance bridge steel faces many challenges.In recent years the practicability and reliability of a series of high performance bridge steel has been studied at home and abroad.As being the new generation bridge steel with ultra low carbon bainite,the Q420qD steel were initially produced at home by Anstcel which has a low cold crack sensitivity low hardness of HAZ and good weldability.The strength of steel is enhanced via controlling bainite microstructure transformation.The new generation high performance bridge steel Q420qD is introduced in many aspects such as composition design,transverse (longitudinal)property,low temperature toughness,crack growth and weldability,and analized the properties and microstructure in this paper.The result showed that grade Q420qD which provides high strength,high toughness,fine weldability and low temperature toughness,will be an ideal steel for modern bridge construction in our country and fit in with international bridge steel trend..
