Effect of tempering time on the high temperature creep properties of T91 steel

The influence of tempering time on the creep proerties of T91 steel and its related microstructure has been studied.It is shown that relatively good room temperature mechanical properties as well as long-term creep properties have been achieved in the T91 steel after tempering at 780℃ for 90 min.When the tempering time is decreased,unexpected phase such as Laves-phase (Fe2Mo)is formed in the microstructure after long-term creep testing.The Laves-phase is detrimental to the creep rupture strength of T91 steel and is easy to coarsen under stress at high temperatures.
