Fifth generation of multifunctional equipment-ten years in the market
The fifth generation of multifunctional (MF) electroprospecting equipment introduced in the late 1990s has brought radical changes to electroprospecting techniques, in particular to MT. The latest equipment makes this complicated method the most portable and productive. Fifth-generation equipment is characterized by a wide dynamic band (24-bit ADC);, GPS synchronization; many inexpensive electric channels used with a smaller number of magnetic channels; light weight; low power consumption; and a removable memory card. The most recent developments include minor improvements such as infrared communication with handheld computers as well as major developments such as:- a telemetric version- automatic monitoring systems- 1H and 3H techniques, which have become the main exploration techniques for mining and diamond prospecting due to high sensitivity and productivity- 1H, 3H, and 2E+3H marine equipment, which could bring new resolution ability and reduced survey costs for offshore electroprospecting
