Solidification structure refinement of metal by electric current pulse
During solidification course of melt,applications of electric current pulse (ECP)can significantly refine solidification structure of metal and alleviate macrosegregation.Moreover,this method has not contamination to the treated materials,and required equipment is simple.Therefore,it has attracted more attentions from metallurgical industry.But refinement mechanism of solidification structure by ECP is not clear for a long time,which limits its wide applications in industry field.Our research group has investigated applications of ECP to metal solidification for more than ten years.This study detailed introduce our research work about refinement technique of ECP,which includes solidification structure evolution,refinement mechanism,and structure change of some special steel with treatment of ECP.
