Effect of continuous annealing process on mechanical properties of cold-rolled low silicon HSLA steel sheet

A multifunction continuous annealing simulator (Multipas)was employed to investigate the continuous annealing process of a low silicon high strength low alloy (HSLA)steel sheet with a yield strength of 380 MPa.The effect of annealing process on microstructures and mechanical properties of the HSLA steel was studied at annealing temperatures of 820℃,800℃,780℃ and annealing speeds of 60 m/rain,120 m/rain,160 m/rain.The research results indicate that the similar grain sizes of microstructure are obtained at different annealing temperatures and different annealing speeds.The strength of low silicon HSLA steel should be higher with a lower annealing temperature and a higher annealing speed. The annealing speed affects mechanical properties more significantly when annealing temperature is at higher level.
