Effect of quenching process on austenite grain growth and hardness of 22SiMn2 steel

22SiMn2 is a kind of steel produced by Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group)Corp.(WISCO)and used as wearable steel.This study researches the effect of the quenching parameters such as temperature and holding time on austenite grain growth and hardness of steel with different content of B element.The result shows the holding time of quenching has less effect on growth of austenite grain in the normal range of quenching temperatures.If quenching temperature is lower than 920℃,austenite grains are small.When quenching temperature is higher than 960℃,the chaos grain phenomena occurred in the steel.For 22SiMn2 steel with the content of 0.001%-0.004% B,the higher content of B element it has,the higher the quenching temperature leading to the coalescence of austenite grain is required.In the meantime when the high temperature for austenite is used,the hardness of steel with higher B content is better than that with lower one.
