Development of X120 grade pipeline steel at Baosteel
The ultra-high strength X120 pipeline steel plates with the thickness of 16 mm has been developed at Baosteel.The X120 trial producing plates have ultra-high strength and good low temperature toughness,the transverse yield strength is 914 -965 MPa,the transverse tensile strength is more than 970 MPa,the transverse Charpy impact energy is above 220 J and Charpy impact fracture shear area is 95% at-40℃ ;The shear area of transverse drop weight tear test (DWTT)is 100% at -30℃.The X120 trial producing plates are made into pipes with the size of φ914 × 16 mm at Julong Pipe Company by JCOE forming.The properties on the transverse of X120 pipes are as follows,Rp0.2 is 860-870 MPa,Rm is 920-990 MPa,δ 50 % is 24 %-27 %,charpy V-notch energy (CVN)is more than 210 J at -40℃,FATT50 (CVN)is-73℃,FATT85 (DWTT)is-15℃ ;The CVN of welding line and HAZ at -20℃ are respectively more than 150J and 80J,and FATT50 of CVN and DWTT are all -55℃.The properties of X120 trial pipes meet the requirements of API 5L(44)for X120 line pipe.
