Study on weidability of Hardox400 wear-resistant steel plate

A Hardox400 wear-resistant steel plate with 12 mm thickness was welded by means of shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)process with filler material J 707.The work was focused on the influence of welding parameters such as current,heat input on the weldability.The relationship between the welding process and microstructure and mechanical property of welded joint was investigated using scanning electronic microscopy (SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS)and mechanical tests.It is shown that a good joint with fine bainitic grains can be obtained under the condition of 130-160 A current.The joint presents high tensile strength and impact toughness.
