An investigation of plating technique for anti-corrosion in coal tar factory
High temperature sulfide corrosion is the main corrosion type in a coal tar factory.In order to protect facilities and pipelines and reduce production troubles,an anti-corrosion coating was commonly suggested.Nickel (Ni),chrome (Cr),nickel-phosphor (Ni-P)and nickel/chrome (Ni/Cr)double-layer platings were tested in this study to investigate their performance with sulfide-riched environment in coal tar factory.Plated samples as well as un-plated one were tested.Corrosion rate was calculated by the weight loss.Corrosion morphology was observed by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM).It was found that Ni-P and Ni/Cr double-layer platings exhibited the best resistance to sulfide corrosion while Ni plating Was the worst.
