NUMERICAL STUDY OF INDOOR AIR QUALITY AND THERMAL COMFORT UNDER STRATUM VENTILATION

The air flow, heat transfer and contaminant dispersion in an office room ventilated by stratum method, which is realized by placing jets strategically around a room at breathing height level to create a layer or stratum of relatively fresh air, was investigated by a CFD model . Mass, momentum, energy, turbulence, species and air age conservation equations are solved by this CFD model, computed airflow, heat transfer and contaminant parameters were used for numerical prediction of indoor air quality quantities based on ISO7730 such as predicted mean vote and the predicted percentage of dissatisfied room occupants. Finally, special attention has been paid to the air quality of breathing zone which is directly related to human being’s health.
