A Novel Thermal Protection of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

The paper deals with thermal protection of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). For the winding and permanent magnet of the motor is easily ruined with the increasing temperature. According to the structure and heating mechanism of the motor, a simplified lumped-parameter thermal model has been presented. The model can be applied in thermal protection of the motor based on the vector control servo system.Scheme and strategy to protect the motor based on the model has also been given in different running condition. The simulation results indicate that the model is effective in thermal protection. The model has considerable worthiness of engineering application.
