Adaptive Neural Network Control for a Class of Nonlinear Time-Delay Systems

In this paper, a robust adaptive neural network control scheme is presented for a class of strictfeedback nonlinear time-delay systems, with both unknown nonlinearities and uncertain disturbances. To cope with the two types of uncertainties, backstepping methodology with adaptive neural design and nonlinear damping techniques are developed. Unknown smooth function vectors and unknown time-delay functions are approximated by two neural networks, respectively. Furthermore, by using appropriate LyapunovKrasovskii functional, all signals in the closed loop system are guaranteed to be semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded and the output of the system is proved to converge to a small neighborhood of the desired trajectory. Finally, simulation result is presented to show the effectiveness of the approach.
