Post Limit-Induced Bifurcation Control in Power Systems

This paper presents an investigation about the limit-induced bifurcations(LIBs) induced by the limits of power systems. Based on the method of bifurcation analysis, a Post Limit-induced Bifurcation Control(Post LIB Control) approach is presented. This approach is realized through the adjustment of AVR reference voltage when the stable limit-induced bifurcation happens. The results with bifurcation analysis indicate that the saddle-node bifurcation will be delayed greatly when using this control strategy. In some scenarios, system may have a larger load margin even than without the constraints of AVR limits.
