Methodology Research for High-Performance Scanning Controller in FPD Systems

In this paper, a new serial synchronous scanning method in flat panel display (FPD) is proposed. By adding a latch buffer between the serializer and the driving buffer, the modified structure can efficiently reduce luminance loss and enhance the transmission performance. A detailed description of the scanning format is given for comparison of the conventional and novel scanning method. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the ratio of the unit weight display time and the transmission time is a tradeoff between luminance loss and transmission efficiency.
