Optimal Control of Time-Delay Systems Based on the Hopfield Neural Network

The linear quadratic optimal control problem for the control systems with time-delay in control input vectors is researched in this paper. At first, discrete the continuous-time systems into a difference equation without time-delay and standardize it. Then, put forward a new alternative method based on continuous Hopfield Neural Network to solve the linear quadratic optimal control problem. By this method, the LQ performance index is transformed into the energy function of cell Hopfild neural network (CHNN), and the control sequence into the output vector of the neurons of CHNN. At last, the optimal control problem is equivalent to the operating process of CHNN from its initial state to the terminal state. Then the stable output vector of CHNN will be the optimal control sequence.
