A Distributed Functions and Components Architecture for Autonomic Computing
As the modern computing system evolves increasingly in complexity, the system management and administrative tasks have become more and more challenging to the system administrators. The autonomic computing technique enables self-management of systems and is therefore able to decrease the complexities of some management tasks. However, most existing autonomic computing architectures or systems are centralized and targeted to specific purposes. These systems are known to provide poor expansibility and transplantability. This paper proposes a distributed functions-and-components architecture to resolve this problem. By distributing the functions and the components to different parts of the system, and subsequently exchanging information among them using a defined protocol, this architecture can achieve expansibility and transplantability effectively.
