Design a Sliding Mode Controller for Active Queue Management

A sliding mode controller for linear AQM systems with time delay is designed in this paper. The differential equation of TCP dynamics system is first rewritten into a form without any time delay through a particular transformation. The sliding surface is constructed from LMI with stability; an appropriate control law is chosen that forces the system states to reach the sliding manifold in finite time.Thus the system performance and stability are prone to be guaranteed. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is demonstrated by simulation studies, which can track queue length very quickly under various network conditions, and the system has strong robustness.
