Research on Substation Automation System Based on IEC61850

In the late 1980s, The Substation Automation System(SAS) mainly based on microcomputer monitor technology had a rapid development foreign and domestic, Due to different architectures in SAS brought out by each company, as well as communication protocol and interface in bay level is unique in each style, it brings great difficulty in maintenance, and hinders the development of SAS. For this purpose, a standard for communication networks and system within substations, i, e., IEC 61850, is worked out by IEC. On the basis of analyzing the concepts of the information leveling, unified object-oriented modeling, data object self-description and abstraction of communication service mapping, etc., a frame of the communication system within substations which is conformed to IEC61850 is proposed, The mechanism of Intelligent Electronic Device(IED) in architecture of IEC61850 are analyzed. This work is available for reference in the implementation of the interoperability, expansibility of SAS.
