Congestion Control over TCP Networks Based on Variable Structure Control Algorithm
As for the problem of congestion control in transmission control protocol (TCP) networks, an active queue management (AQM) algorithm based on variable structure control (VSC) theory is proposed. Based on the TCP networks congestion control model, an asymptotically stable sliding surface is designed by linear matrix inequality (LMI). In addition, a novel reaching condition that can obviously reduce chattering is also put forward. Applying the reaching condition to the system, the controller can constrain oscillation of the queue length in router effectively. And the queue length converges to the desired value quickly. The effect of uncertainties is considered while the sliding surface and the controller are designed, so the stability and robustness of the algorithm is good. The simulation results certify the validity of the algorithm.
