Research of Automatic Recognition Algorithm of Quick Response Code

The automatic recognition algorithm of Quick Response (QR) code is discussed in this paper. An image processing system, which captures images through a web-camera, and segments the images, locates and decodes the QR code, is described. In order to adapt various sizes of real barcode images under various lighting conditions, a high-speed, high-accuracy image segmentation method which integrates local thresholding with global thresholding is adopted, which can locate the finder pattern effectively. To amend the distortion of QR code in every image, we made use of the finder patterns and the square feature of QR code and proposed a new algorithm to obtain the boundary information called hollowing algorithm. Since the traditional Hough Transform is complicated and time-consuming, we propose a new Hough Transform called the Knownpoint Hough Transform to be used in the automatic recognition of QR code, which has been proven effective.
