A New Pseudo-Random Sequences Generator Based on Two-Dimensional Cellular Automata

Pseudo-random sequences have many applications in the field of cryptography. And its generation has become one of the most important subjects in cryptography. In this paper, we explore a new trapezoidal pseudo-random sequences generator based on two-dimensional Cellular Automata (CA). At first, the rule of CA is discussed. Then it is introduced in detail that how to get maximum period in our new generator. Furthermore, the structure of the new generator is presented. At last the generated sequence is tested according to the standard of FIPS 140-2 statistical tests for randomness. And the results of test indicates that the new generator has excellent pseudo-random statistical properties and can be applied in cryptography.
