Optimal Quadratic Neuron PID Controller of Magnetic Bearing System
The optimal quadratic neuron PID controller based on quadratic performance index of optimal control theory is described in this paper which combines artificial neural networks (ANNs) technique with optimal control theory and adjusts PID parameters to reach adaptive effect according to its learning rules derived from optimal quadratic performance index. The application of the controller in a real magnetic bearing system confirms that the controller can overcome its significant drawback such as highly nonlinearity and inherently instability. Simulation results by M-file in MATLAB show that optimal quadratic neuron PID controller can achieve better performance and provides a number of advantages over traditional PID controller.
