The calculation for characteristic multiplier of a second order linear differential equation with periodic coefficients
In this paper, a method is given to the calculation for characteristic multiplier of a second order linear differential equation x +q(t)x = 0 in the case q(t) < 0. As an application, we calculate the characteristic multipliers of Eq. x +q(t)x = 0 in the case q(t) < 0. Our results can be seen as an good supplement to the results in 3 and 4. We end this paper with some examples which show the simplicity and the high accuracy of our computational method.
