Variable Structure Control for Systems with Uncertainties in Input and Output Channels

A design scheme of variable structure control using only input and output measurements for a class of uncertain dynamic systems is presented. The modeled part of the systems has relative degree greater than one, and the upper bound of its degree is unknown. The variable structure controller developed guarantees the global stability of the closed-loop system, and that the tracking error can be arbitrarily small.
