An Intra-Frame Prediction Method Based on Inter-Macroblocks for H.264 Codec
In order to improve the intra-coding efficiency for H.264, this paper presents a novel intraprediction method based on inter-macroblocks. At the beginning, we investigate the intra-prediction method for H.264 including some fast intra-prediction mode selections in this work. Then a novel intra-frame prediction method is proposed, based on the relationship between adjacent macroblocks. Different from the traditional intra-prediction methods, the proposed has much consideration to blocks similarity. So it is possible to find out the right matching block with efficient search algorithms from the macroblocks coded before and to adopt the encoding method like motion estimation to encode the current macroblock. Experimental results based on the H.264 JVT reference software of JM10.1 show that the proposed could achieve a better performance compared with the traditional intra-prediction methods with a little computation increase. The proposed also presents us a novel direction to work for video coding for H.264 codec.
