A MORE COMPLETE AND INTEGRATIVE MODEL OF INNOVATIONS: ENTREPRENEUR, SOCIAL CAPITAL AND KNOWLEDGE
Three key components including entrepreneur, knowledge and social capital are widely recognised as common and important elements of the innovation, much of the literature has been dominated by studies focussed on one or two components in isolation. This paper seeks to synthesise a more complete and integrative model of innovations. This study is built upon Nahapiet and Ghoshal’s three dimensions of social capital—structural, relational, and cognitive to theoretically discuss the effect of high-tech entrepreneurial social capital on knowledge acquisition and technological innovation in the growth stage of high-tech entrepreneurial firm, to analyse how knowledge mediates the relationship between high-tech entrepreneurial social capital and technological innovation and explicitly establishes a theoretical model. On the basis of the above argument, this paper has put forward several hypotheses and pointed out main implications and future research directions.
