THE APPLICATION OF FUZZY THEORY IN MCDM—A MULTILEVEL EVALUATION MODEL OF TOPSIS BASED ON ENTROPY WEIGHT AND FUZZY SET

MCDM (multiple criteria decision making) is a systematic process of finding the optimal option among several feasible alternatives for multiple criteria. In real world, data often exist in imprecise form. Therefore the fuzzy set theory was used to model the real life situations of MCDM in this paper. Here, the decision matrix-forming criterion values of all alternatives were denoted by use of the triangular fuzzy number: xij= (aij, bij, cij). On this basis, through a set of arithmetic, a multilevel model of Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) with entropy weight was constructed. When ascertaining the weight of each criterion, with entropy weight the subjectivity in lower hierarchy can be avoided. Finally, an experimental result was given in order to verify the applicability of the proposed model. By the model, decision makers (DM) are able to make more advantageous decisions more accurately.
