Application of Entropy to Analyze Risk on Engineering Management
A project itself is an information source to project management system. The information from the project and the environment is a random variable because of the variable geological conditions, unpredictable events and changeful climate. In this paper we probe into the risk of large-scale hydroelectric projects by the way of entropy. Approaches for risk management from the viewpoint of information theory and entropy measurements allow us to deal with project uncertainties. Entropy measurement is one of the alternative approaches for risk analyses; furthermore, it is a valid method to evaluate the risk in the process of project.
