A Quantitative Fire Risk Assessment for Residential Buildings

The level of fire safety of existing buildings varies with the time of construction. If the design of the old buildings deviates from the current building codes and regulations, it is difficult if not impossible to upgrade the fire protection systems of the existing buildings based on the current regulations. This paper has proposed a fire risk assessment methodology to help the stakeholders make risk- informed decisions and to determine cost effective fire safety improvements for the existing residential buildings.
