Maritime Traffic Environment Risk Analysis Based on Geographical Distribution

The traditional risk analysis approach for marine traffic environment evaluates the risk level through considering the study area as a whole. Marine traffic environment risk analysis based on geographical distribution divides the study area into a number of cell units according to a certain criterion, with a combination of historical data, mathematical models and consultation of the experts, for assessing the possibility of ship collision and grounding for each unit. Its outcome highlights the high-risk regions in the form of geographical distribution. Compared with traditional risk analysis methods, this theory may demonstrate the risk state of the study area more fully and accurately in order to give a strong support for adopting and implementing the risk control measures.
