An Empirical Investigation on Knowledge Management Based on the Issues of Social Engineering
The issues of social engineering include social patterns, processes and practices of effective project, which are very important for knowledge management, and becomes well recognized. These concepts, however, (including ideas of social networks and social capital) have not been fully explored in a project context and not been applied in knowledge management in practice. This paper presents an empirical investigation to delineate and relate these concepts to a project environment, which is applied to identify how to improve project social capital for knowledge management. Furthermore, over 300 relationships in China engineering projects are applied to understand the determinants and provenance of conductive relationships within projects. The age of the relationship of the issues of social engineering and the degree to which the people involved in a relationship share a common background of knowledge management or interact outside the project significantly with the conductivity. The paper concludes a discussion of the extendibility of the projects findings and the implications of the investigation for project practitioners.
