Novel Sample Introduction and Detection Techniques in Microchip Capillary Electrophoresis

Capillary electrophoresis (CE) and related techniques on microchip have made great extensions in recent years. This study describes some advanced sample introduction and detection techniques in microchip CE. First, a diffusion-free sampling and labeling method has been proposed for sub-cellular analysis based on ionic liquid segmentation where could perform an on-line labeling without time limit. Second, a dual-channel CE in-channel electrochemical detection (ECD) system has been developed to eliminate the effect of separation voltage to EC detector without using a decoupler. The system reduces band broadening, potential shift and improves separation efficiency. Further, a novel fabrication method of nanoband electrode has been developed in dual-channel poly (dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) microchip for in-channel CE-ECD system. The developed nanoband electrode microchip system shows great separation efficiency and detection sensitivity.
