A New Torque-Actuated Valve for PDMS Microfluidic Chip
A simple and reusable torque-actuated valve is developed. It is composed of screws and a metal plate. The torque-actuated valve makes use of the displacement of screw to push down the PDMS layer upon the channel to close it while metal plate worked as a fastener and hold the screws position. There is no need to drill holes on PDMS so as to improving the yield of the microchip. The performance of valve is tested by manipulating laminar and speed of fluid. We can easily operate the valve to closedown fluid in trapezium channel. The valve is reusable and able to be employed on various chips. We present the finite element analysis which is compatible with both types of torque-actuated valves. The numerical results consist with experiment results.
