Bio-Sorption and Speciation of Arsenic Using Renewable Cell-Column in a Lab-on-Valve System with Detection by ETAAS

A new method using renewable cell-column in a lab-on- valve (LOV) system for arsenic speciation with detection by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) was presented. Live HeLa cells immobilized on the surface of micro-carrier beads (Sephadex G-50) were introduced into a LOV system to pack a micro-column for As(III)/As(V) preconcentration. Large discrepancy of sorption efficiencies for As(Ⅲ) and As(Ⅴ) on the cell-column were obtained by varying pH within a range of pH 1-9, which facilitates the speciation of arsenic.
