Controllable Production of Gas/Water/Oil Double Emulsions in Microfluidic Devices
Monodisperse gas/water/oil double emulsions are generated in both flow-focusing and T-junction microfluidic devices. The sizes of the bubbles (20- 40μm) are adjusted by changing the ratio of water and oil flow rates, whereas the gas pressure is critical to get double emulsions. In flow focusing device, the sizes of generated bubbles and droplets are generally smaller than that in T-junctions, but there is less flexibility to change bubble sizes by adjusting the flow rates.
