Microfluidic Cell Array with Concentration Gradient in Parallel Channels
We present a microfluidic device, integrating a gradient generator by geometrically controlled diffusion and eight parallel lanes of microchannels with an array of sandbag microstructures built in each lane for the docking of suspension cells, that we have developed. Using the microfluidic device, an array of about 200 cells were exposed to differing concentrations of an analyte, with cellular responses captured within one snapshot of confocal image. It is also possible to multiplex the number of parallel microchannels with the gradient generator to increase the throughput of on-chip dose-dependent cell-based assays.
