Improved analytic network process for the selection of knowledge management strategies
Knowledge management (KM) is becoming strategy- oriented. With the increasing emphasis on KM strategies,a critical issue for companies is how to evaluate and select a favourable KM strategy before KM implementation. However, multiple complex factors in analysis have to be considered when selecting a proper KM strategy, which is a kind of multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem. Differing from the traditional MCDM,the improved analytic network process (IANP) based on the methodology of data envelopment analysis is a new MCDM approach, which suggests experts should adopt interval estimates, instead of point estimates as applied in classical analytic network process,to reflect the indeterminacy and the difficulty when constructing the influence submatrix of alternatives to goals. Since the IANP approach has the above advantages,in this paper,it is applied to evaluate and select fitting KM strategies for gaining competitive advantages. The IANP is validated to be reasonable and dependable by an illustrative case.
