Sustainable Governance Mechanism of the Regional Innovation System in Korea
In recent years,the concept of Regional Innovation Systems has evolved into a widely used analytical framework. But in reality,the RIS does not seem to be sustainable or workable due to the lack of governance. To cure this non-operability,the emphasis on the structure as well as network management of the system should be merged into the practice. In Korea,there are 7 RIS among 14 regions nationwide. Empirically,they are not sustainable and thus,the paper proposes the role of metamediary as a facilitator,network service provider and collaborator.
