Control Mechanisms,Vendors Learning and the Outcome in Chinese-Japan Software Offshoring Outsourcing
Learning and control are both potential sources of relational rents in offshoring outsourcing. We divide the vendors learning in China-Japan software offshoring into two separate aspects: learning about client and learning from client. Control mechanisms such as structural specification,goal-setting and cultural blending have different impacts on the two levels of learning by a vendor,i. e. higher-order vs. lower-order learning. While learning about client may improve the partnership quality,learning from client will negatively impact the partnership stability owing to bargaining power shift in long-term.
