Consequences of organizational citizenship behavior: a critical review of literature and suggestions for future research

Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) has been identified as essential to the success of work teams and organization. Organizational citizenship behavior research has recently shifted from an exclusive focus on the antecedents of citizenship behavior to the inclusion of studies of the consequences of OBC. This paper critically examines the literature on organizational citizenship behaviors and other related fields,especially on consequences of OBC. More specifically,it: (a) reviews the OBCs and other concepts briefly;(b) summarizes organizational citizenship behavior dimension;(c) summarizes the important findings of consequences of OBC in the past related researches;(d) identifies several interesting directions for future research in this domain.
