The US Electrical Power Industry-A 2007 Perspective
A perspective on the current overall United States (US) Electrical Power Industry situation is provided; including: 1. US generation capacity over the past 40 years was mainly accomplished in several major surges. 2. Certain regions of the US will require new generation capacity soon. 3. Large coal unit, natural gas and wind generating capacity are being added. Nuclear units are in the planning phases. 4. US Environmental Agency mandated emissions reductions have substantially reduced the environmental impact of new and existing fossil units. 5. New transmission line installation is planned that will improve the current restrictive situation.
