The Influence of High Oxygen Concentration on Ignition Characteristics of Pulverized Bituminous Coal
In this paper, the results of a study on the ignitability of the pulverized bituminous coal under high oxygen concentrations upper to 21% are presented. First, non-isothermal thermo-gravimetry experiments were carried out; and then a 10k/min temperature-programmed process was used in the Drop-Tube Furnace to pursue the ignition temperature of the pulverized coal flow using Fourier transform infrared gas analyzer. A new criterion is stated for examining the ignition temperature of the pulverized coal flow in DTF. Experimental investigation and theoretical analysis revealed that there is a great influence of oxygen concentration on ignitability of the pulverized coal. When the oxygen concentrations increases, the burning process can be largely improved, the ignition temperature fell off and ignition heat reduced. The data showed that a good relationship exists between the ignition temperature of the pulverized coal flow and the oxygen concentrations. Furthermore, the compensation effect exits between the activation energy and frequency factor in SM bituminous coals as the oxygen concentration increases.
