The Ignition Criterion of Pulverized Coal Flow and Its Experimental Verification
The physical process of ignition of pulverized coal is simplified and analyzed. Based on the balance of heat from heat transfer and combustion, a dimensionless criterion named C0 is obtained. The criterion includes main factors which effect ignition of pulverized coal flow, such as the initial temperature of pulverized coal flow, the temperature in the furnace, the rate of primary air, secondary air and reflow flue gas. And it can be used to describe the ignition of pulverized coal flow under many conditions. By means of analyzing the relation of C0 and the concentration of pulverized coal flow, it is found that there is an optimal concentration of pulverized coal flow under which pulverized coal flow can ignite earliest. And the calculation formula of the concentration is proposed. The criterion is verified in a hot model experiment. The results show that the criterion can be used for different kind of coal and different type of burner.
